Waxing and Accutane

general — Wednesday, November 23, 2005

If you are using Accutane or have taken Accutane in the last year, waxing is not advised. The reason being, Accutane causes the skin to shed at an excelerated rate and therefore waxing can cause scarring from taking layers of the epidermis ( top layers of skin) Also if you are using skin care products with Retinol or Vitamin A creams or creams with high % of AHA, it can also cause more redness and possible tearing of the skin with facial waxing. Usually if you stop using the creams it is ok to wax again after 3 months.
